Lupercalia was the original pagan festival that Valentine’s Day replaced –a festival of the she-wolf. The festival celebrated spring and fertility. Young men would strike women with goat-skin strips  to bring fertility and easy birth.

While Valentine’s Day is today a much gentler holiday, with kisses instead of blows, the commercialization and sentimentalization of love that surrounds much of our experiences of this holiday comes up just a little short of what we could be experiencing.

What we can retain from the earlier rites is the passion! Yes, passion! And not just lustful passion.

A celebration of fertility is a celebration of life, specifically the large powerful force of procreation.  A wolfish lust for living, the desire for propagation, is the life force itself being creative.

Individually, we may want children or not, but the life force within us desires creation–whether it creates by flesh or by idea or by changing reality itself, creation is a key energy of the spring festival of Lupercalia.

Our life force is compelled into creation, but we are also driven–when we listen closely to our deepest longing–to live fully, wildly, and freely!  Lupercalia is this celebration of wild freedom.

While modern Valentine’s Day can be a sweet way to connect with those we love, I plan to connect more deeply into the full and wild passion of life!

Some of us have been preparing for 2012 for decades. Others of us for the last few years. We have wondered about our spiritual state, striving to make ourselves better people, worthy of transformation.

And now, here we are.

2012 in all its glory! Breathe! You made it!

There is rumor that the big cataclysmic shift won’t occur until December of 2012. But you do have a choice in the matter. You can diligently, madly, frantically, or even carefully prepare yourself further for the BIG SHIFT.

Or you can simply begin living life now. In authenticity. In compassion. In love. In wonderment. In joy. In curious playfulness.

You can include the best traditions from the past that have sustained and nurtured you. You can create new traditions that cement community and family. You can make each day a sacred celebration.

Your plans and resolutions need not be about success and materialism. They can be simple. I resolve to nurture relationships. I resolve one moment each morning to focus only on joy. I resolve to whisper gratitude to the wind each time I step out the door. Regardless. Regardless of the fight the night before. Regardless of the bills that are past due. Regardless of physical discomfort.

Resolve that the world no longer dictate your BE-ing. Instead simply BE. In authenticity. In compassion. In love. In wonderment. In joy. In curious playfulness.

As children, we may have been afraid of a monster that lived in the closet. Or we may have looked up from something that had captured our attention at the mall to suddenly realize that our mother was nowhere in sight! In school we may have been fearful to read in front of the class or maybe we were afraid to stand up for ourselves when challenged by the school bully.

Our best coping device when we’re young is to simply avoid the situations that cause the fear. We turn the light on, cling to our mother’s hand as she pulls us past all the interesting items down the aisle, get sick on the day we’re supposed to share our science project, or avoid the playground.

But as an adult, we may suddenly recognize that we want to lead the group, if only we weren’t afraid of public speaking. Or we may want to go camping with our friends, if only being in the dark woods weren’t so unsettling.

As a self-proclaimed fearologist, I have spent a good deal of time examining fears and finding ways to transform them. We really don’t have to avoid the situations that make us uncomfortable.  We can develop other strategies for easily coping with all kinds of fears. Once we understand that fears are not things we need to be “afraid” of, we suddenly have all kinds of options for living our lives more fully in all the ways we wish. Your fears, in fact, can be your biggest allies. Here’s why:

1. Fear shows you the edges of your boxes. Our typical reaction to fear is to turn the other way and run. As such, fears delineate our safe zone.  When I look at my life, I can see that I like to stay within the zones where there is no fear. This provides me with a box, a place where I can comfortably be and feel safe. But a lot of life and experience lies beyond that box of safety. If we want to fully experience life, we will want to push up against those fears.
2. Fear can expose our false identities. Many people believe that there is a core identity that defines who they are. While that may be true, most of our identities are actually defined by our limitations rather than our essence. A fear of water might keep me from swimming in the ocean or lake while enjoying a vacation. I may even tell myself that it’s a preference. I really prefer to stay dry and clean, rather than wet and sandy. I may decide I am simply a land-lover. That’s who I am. I might as well accept it. I’ve listened as many clients tell me they are shy. That’s who they are. But when we look closer we can see that there isn’t an essence of being called “shy.” Instead, we are simply afraid of being seen. When we recognize that fears highlight our limitations, and do not define our identities, we begin to have some wiggle room for expanding our choices, moving beyond the edges of our boxes, and experiencing more freedom in our lives.
3. Fear itself is simply an illusion.  Often we treat fear as a “thing.” We must defeat it, change it, overcome it. Fear, at most, may be a cascade of chemical responses in our body set loose by a mental thought or physical threat. But fear itself has no substance. We interpret the cascade of chemical responses as a thing. But there is nothing out there, beyond us, that can be called or labelled “fear.” Realizing that fear is not a thing out there that can hurt you is an excellent first step to being able to use it to your advantage. When you find yourself feeling fearful, simply explore the illusion. Picture fear in front of you. Perhaps it’s a monster, or a blob of dark, murky smoke. Move toward it. Let it surround you. Talk to it. Interact with it. You will notice quite quickly that fear itself is not some terrifying thing, but an illusion of smoke and mirrors. With this knowledge, you are well on your way to making an ally out of your fears.
4. Fear always separates us from incredibly good things.  Once I realized that fear is an illusion and that it is simply showing me my limitations, I eagerly set off to move though my fears whenever they arose. The most surprising thing about this practice of consistently facing my fears was that I often found the biggest gifts that have enriched my life immeasurably have been found behind those fears.  Often that gift has been far beyond anything I could imagine or conceive of.  Imagine how enriched our lives became when fear no longer blocks our creativity, our love, our possibilities!
5. Fear wants to be your ally, rather than your bully. That cascade of chemical responses in our body was originally designed to save your life! You want that to happen when you need to run for your life or jump out of the way of a charging bull. Fear has always been our ally in that way. But we later developed a sense that fear was something out there, terrorizing and bullying us. It became our nemesis. Something to defeat, or something to limit us, depending on our perspective. But it makes such a good ally! Now when I feel fear, I get curious! What’s this limitation? What gifts are hidden in this direction? I rely on my fear to guide me into my next expansion. And it has never yet let me down!

Are we there yet?

It seems many of us are waiting for 2012 or something, anything, to happen that will magically transport us to a new world, a new way of being. I’ve had coffee house discussions where everyone is trying to figure out when the transition will occur, and what it might look like.

And it’s not just idle conversation. Visionaries have written about it. Prophecies have been passed down through generations. The New Age. Awakened Beings. Living Our Full Potential. Release from Fear. Recognition that We Are All One.

We have tried to prepare ourselves. This huge transition means the world as we know it will end!  Earthquakes and hurricanes. Or economic collapse. Or widespread crop failure. Or maybe all of the above.

We have practiced managing our fear when the going got tough in our personal lives. It was hard. We’ve been watching the economy plummet, and not recover.We’ve lost jobs, benefits, homes, and loved ones. We have no idea what the new world is supposed to look like.

We keep looking to the old ways to see evidence that things are improving. The stock market is up a few points–yay! The month had strong auto sales–yay! Oh no, the market dropped again. Oh no, the national debt is out of control.  We bounce back and forth as the winds change daily.

But once we let go of those external measures and turn to look to our inner strength, we begin to notice something peculiar.  The transition is occurring. And it is not heralded or marked by external events. It is instead a noticing. An vague awareness of doubleness.

An event happens that seems tragic. Our house forecloses. Our partner leaves us. A tornado destroys our town. But somehow, when we are looking internally, past what surface fear arises, we notice that something else is happening.

The story on the outside of doom, disaster, and despair is not matched on the inside. There is a calm awareness of peace. Regardless of the external.

And there we are. Noticing that we have what we need and want even though the outside story doesn’t seem to match. The gig, it seems, is up. It has happened. We have transitioned. We are the prophecy.

It happened. Regardless. (Grinch: “How could it be so? It came without ribbons!… it came without tags!… it came without packages, boxes, or bags! … Perhaps [enlightenment] doesn’t come from a store!”)

Quietly we changed. Almost unnoticed. Almost.

Many people have wondered about the difference between Group Activations and Group Holographic Healing Sessions.  So I wanted to take some time to let you know my experience of how these two events differ.

First, for a little history:

The Group Holographic Healing Sessions began in 2008.  My guides very clearly told me that I needed to do healing sessions in groups. I was a little uncertain at first about exactly what that might look like.

Prior to that time, I had only seen one live group healing and experienced one teleconference group healing. That wasn’t much to go on. I had no idea “what” I should do. But the sense that I should do it anyway was really strong.

I decided I should schedule the group healing anyway. I sketched out a version of what might happen. I definitely thought that “I” would be doing a healing. But what happened instead was so much better!

As the session began, my awareness expanded exponentially. I began to notice and see connections to dimensional spaces and energies that were typically far beyond my usual abilities to see such things. In the end, I pretty much narrated what I was seeing, and it simply happened–it wasn’t something “I” did at all.

The reports were amazing. Some people did notice physical healing, but many people reported that connecting with these energies I had tapped into was quite a visceral experience and left them with a higher vibration and the resulting benefits in their daily lives.

The special thing about the Group Holographic Healing Sessions is that even though participants benefit as individuals, the energies we tap into are also being established on our planet through the sessions we do! It’s a terrific win/win! Everyone benefits because we are able to anchor these higher vibrations into our world.

The Group Activations began in 2010. My guides wanted to provide some very specific energetic upgrades for those seeking an accelerated spiritual growth. These are very specifically for us as individuals.

The differences between the two session types seem pretty significant to me. The Group Activations are only about 30 minutes long, and are very focused on a specific upgrade for us as individuals.  The Group Holographic Healing Sessions are an hour long, yet they seem about 3 times the length of the Activations. These longer sessions go much, much deeper into the energies for sure, and are quite profound for me and the other participants.

The Holographic Sessions are also not focused on one specific upgrade.  Instead they emerge organically from the group involved.  Very occasionally is a theme announced in advance. This coming Holographic Healing Session in September 2011 is one of the few with a specific focus.

The Activations are a great way to try out an infusion of higher level energies! They were specifically priced low, so many people could take advantage of tapping in each month to upgrade their energy fields.  If you enjoy the Activations, then I recommend trying a much deeper and more profound connection to these energies with the Group Holographic Healing Sessions.

Turning a frog into a prince requires kissing a lot of frogs. Everyone knows this.

But I grew up thinking that this was because not all frogs could be princes. Now I know better. Now I know that it has more to do with the quality of the kissing than anything to do with the frog.

So if you want to transform a frog to a prince, you need to practice kissing.

It’s the same with any alchemical transformation. You can improve your transformation skills, like any other skill. And like any other skill, magic just doesn’t magically happen.  There are several key components, and those components must occur no matter what transformation you are attempting.

Recently I was asked what I most wanted to accomplish this year. My answer: I want to live more and more everyday moments from the heart.

In the back of my mind, I wondered, briefly, if my answer implied that I lacked ambition.  It certainly wasn’t the typical answer.

But in truth, my answer might indicate an extremely high level of ambition. If I’m successful, I will not only radically change my life for the better but my accomplishment will also significantly change the world. Not a shabby outcome.

When it comes to achievement, the greatest gains are often found in unsuspecting places. What do you most want to accomplish this year?

One of the biggest limitations we all face is fear. No one escapes this limitation in some form or another. Once, early in my consciousness studies, I was ruminating on the idea of power. I decided I would look for my power in a meditation. Once still and quiet, I looked around and saw a ladder leading up. I climbed for a very long time up beyond the clouds, and came to the edge of a wall. Over that wall, I knew I would find my power. I peered over that wall, and what I saw struck instant fear in my heart. My power, it seemed, went on for as far as the eye could see into infinity. I quickly climbed down that ladder, a bit awestruck. Awesome power does require an awesome responsibility. Was I ready for that?

Fear is something that I have studied very closely for some time; you could possibly refer to me as a “fearologist.” Fear has attracted my close attention ever since an incident that occurred many years ago. A mentor told me that if I wanted to know what my destiny in this world was, all I needed to do was to sit in meditation and in that space, walk down a road, and meet my future self coming in the other direction. I could ask this future self what my destiny was, and I would get an answer. So I did this meditation and when I met my future self, I was told the following: “Your purpose is to lead people through their fear. Fear is the root of all the problems on your planet. Indeed the opposite of love is not hate, but fear. Hate is simply one form of fear. In fact, the reason we do not experience peace on Earth is solely because of fear.”

When I first heard these words I really didn’t know how I would ever apply the concept of “leading people through their fear” in my life. But I walked away from that meditation with a firm knowledge that fear is simply an illusion. And because I “knew” that fear was not real, I was less affected by it in everyday situations. What do I mean by that? I mean that I understood that being afraid wasn’t a valid excuse. This was the single most important idea that helped me move beyond fear.

1. Bringing Hope. One thing that the participants in the Matrix Energetics seminars told me again and again was that my process and methods for navigating the worlds of consciousness gave them hope. I was just an ordinary person, like them, and yet even with all the negative voices in my head, I was able to expand myself and my awareness and bring healing and transformation to many others as well as myself.  In the workshop, I share my many tips for getting to this point, for getting out of my thinking mind and into my larger, more aware self. Even if you don’t go on to become a healer or practitioner of some sort, this information alone can help you to move past the limitations of ego that can make life challenging at times.

2. Getting Past the Hype.  So many people are talking about the Law of Attraction and other consciousness ideas, but the focus is always on what we can get from the tool. Often, we go to the seminar or workshop wanting one simple trick: to create wealth or health or happiness. We approach the workshop very linearly, believing we will learn a set of steps or a bag of tricks that we can apply to get the perfect life. Generally, this approach fizzles pretty quickly.  Here’s why: Even though it is true that these tools can help us make changes in our world, without a deeper or stronger foundation in the nature of reality, or our hologram, as I refer to it, we don’t make any of the deeper consciousness shifts that allow us to sustain and deepen these practices in our lives. The Holographic Principles workshop helps you build that foundation. The goal is to be able to easily integrate these ideas and tools into your everyday life, thus deepening your connection to your power daily.

3. Bridging Worlds. On several levels, I see my task in these workshops is to be a bridge. First, there is the matter of translating spiritual and dimensional information into a human language, which cannot even begin to describe it. One gift I can bring to these workshops is a language that approximates these worlds. Overwhelmingly, people’s responses to my teaching is that it is remarkably clear and understandable, and I’m pleased I can contribute to the participants growth in that way. One of the most difficult things as a beginner in the worlds of consciousness is to try to explore things you have no knowledge of and no clear instructions on how to proceed!

4. Moving Beyond Ego.  Another way I function as a bridge is to reveal the bigger picture. The most amazing thing happens when begin to integrate these tools and practices into our daily lives. It may take some practice, but soon we find that instead of just changing our lives for the better, it is WE who have changed!  The process is so subtle, but inevitable. And we find ourselves content and assured. We feel no need to chase for the things that may have brought us into these worlds to begin with, the health or the wealth. Instead we begin to fully embrace all of the human realm of experience as sacred and amazing! What’s funny is that I always worry that people who are not yet to this space of understanding will read this as a cop out. Because you could easily say, oh, I see. You can’t really change your life and make it perfect, so now you want me to give up trying and just be content with all the crap! And off they may run to the next workshop that promises them complete control of their lives. But I guarantee you, that once you make this transition, you actually find yourself in an even more powerful position, and you are enjoying all of life so much more. So if you are hearing your ego rebel at this point, be gentle and honor that ego, as it has led you this far!

5. Group Empowerment. A funny thing happens when we gather in groups: our bandwidth increases. This bandwidth concept is something I developed to explain the curious phenomenon of group energy. Participation in intentional group events is definitely something I believe we all need to be doing as much as possible. We can leap ahead in consciousness and evolution when we make use of this bandwidth. By far, being in and soaking up the higher vibrational states of these workshops is a great way to accelerate yourself along the path. I benefit as well and some of my most profound experiences have occurred while I’ve been teaching and sharing in workshop environments.

6. Learning. I’m always pushing myself to greater understanding.  I am also fascinated by how the world of consciousness is understood and navigated in different belief systems and cultures. Each time I get to teach a workshop, more and more of these interconnections emerge, strengthening the foundation of our overall understanding. I’m also excited and inspired by the knowledge and information brought by the participants. And my workshops are increasingly participatory, with all of us sharing and contributing our own understandings and experiences. I learn so much from everyone who attends.

Currently, I’m in the process of revising the Holographic Principles Workshop to reflect what I learned at the most recent event in Peru, and can’t wait to share some of the interconnections we discovered between the scientific, magickal, and traditional Andean understanding of the nature of reality.

The land in Peru is magnificent! It opens your heart and holds you in a very special place. This feeling was something that felt very much like a “coming home,” something I didn’t know I was missing until I experienced it. And now I want to support that very special connection, as the emotional peace and warmth was healing on so many levels.

Upon my return to Seattle, I found it strangely disconcerting to be back North. As I thought more about it, I realized that the land is sooo big in Peru, and the mountain’s presence is so strong. Even though I live pretty close to some impressive mountains in Seattle, the land seems smaller, further away.

Researchers have discovered that there is a certain frequency that the planet resonates to (7.8 Hz, though it may be changing slightly in this new age), and when we are in resonance with it, it is good for us, and it feels good. Even more importantly, it is a healing frequency, and corrects our individual frequencies back to their natural state. The way I would describe it in Peru, is feeling as though I was being “held” by the land.

Once back North, there is a lot more distortion of this frequency, and boy does it feel different. One thing that has helped me readjust is listening to brainwave entrainment cds, as soon as I drop into those states, I can “find” that feeling of being connected to the land again very easily. There are many to choose from, and I’ve really been enjoying the Solfeggio Harmonics. You can hear samples on YouTube if you’re interested in these frequencies.

One take away lesson for me upon my return is that I need to take the time to reconnect with nature out in the wild away from the city. This isn’t optional if I want to live a balanced and harmonious life. And when I can’t be surrounded by nature, I must integrate more and more sound into my life and my healing arts practice. The sacred geometry patterns formed by certain musical frequencies can also correct our individual frequencies back to their natural state.

I’m looking forward to exploring both music and nature and discovering the harmonies afforded by both during this next year!
